Statistical downscaling of GRACE gravity satellite-derived groundwater level data

With the continued threat from climate change, population growth and followed by increasing water demand, the need for hydrological data with high spatial resolution and proper time coverage to be felt more than ago. Therefore, having data such as terrestrial water storage changes and groundwater level changes with high resolution spatial helps to plan and make decisions for water resource mana...

Deriving catchment-scale water and energy balance parameters using data assimilation based on extended Kalman filtering

Important catchment-scale water and energy balance parameters are derived for a small catchment in southeastern Australia by assimilation in a catchment-scale soil-vegetation-atmosphere transfer (SVAT) model of subcatchment-scale soil water content observations and land surface temperature measurements. In order to incorporate the subcatchment-scale soil moisture variability and its time evolut...

The potential of ground gravity measurements to validate GRACE data

New satellite missions are returning high precision, time-varying, satellite measurements of the Earth’s gravity field. The GRACE mission is now in its calibration/validation phase and first results of the gravity field solutions are imminent. We consider here the possibility of external validation using data from the superconducting gravimeters in the European sub-array of the Global Geodynami...

Regional high-resolution spatiotemporal gravity modeling from GRACE data using spherical wavelets

[1] We determine a regional spatiotemporal gravity field over northern South America including the Amazon region using GRACE inter-satellite range-rate measurements by application of a wavelet-based multiresolution technique. A major advantage of this method is that we are able to represent the Amazon hydrological signals in form of time series of detail signals with level-dependent temporal re...

Localization using fuzzy and Kalman filtering data fusion

In this paper a new localisation algorithm for the navigation of a mobile robot in outdoor environments is presented. The algorithm combines together a classical Kalman filter with a set of Fuzzy rules to fuse the information coming from different sensors. Some preliminary experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed approach.
